Freight Not Affected by Canada Border Closing

The United States and Canada temporarily closed their shared border to non-essential travel while continuing to allow goods to move between the countries. The move is intended to slow the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus.

Trucks continue to move relatively freely between the two countries. Air and rail freight are also largely unaffected by the border closing.

U.S. and Canadian officials stressed the need to keep supply chains open during the pandemic. Officials said the border will remain open for freight barring any unforeseen need to stop the movement of goods.
