FedEx Freight Changes Its Linear Foot Rule

FedEx Freight recently made a pricing change that affects larger shipments of stackable freight.

The change applies to shipments larger than seven standard-size pallets. On shipments of this size, FedEx now omits stackability from its calculation of linear feet. For stackable freight, the resulting price is no longer competitive with the rates charged by other carriers.

UTS is disputing this rule change. In the meantime, FedEx will not appear as a carrier option for stackable LTL shipments larger than seven standard pallets.

A rate is still available by calling your UTS account manager. Also, with advance notice, UTS can negotiate spot rates for larger LTL shipments like those affected by the change at FedEx.
