EIA Forecasts Lower Fuel Surcharges for 2023

Diesel fuel prices will likely remain above $5.00 a gallon through the end of 2022.

Lower diesel prices are on the horizon, however, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration.

For shippers, lower diesel prices mean lower fuel surcharges in the year to come.

The EIA expects diesel fuel to spend most of 2023 in a price band between $4.50 and $5.00 a gallon. If this forecast proves to be accurate, both diesel prices and fuel surcharges should be on average approximately 10% below 2022 levels.
